Rotary Young Citizen Award 2019

On 11 and 12 May 2019, the Head of our Conveyancing Department and President of Rotary Club of Rotherham, Elizabeth Harris, proudly attended the Rotary National Conference in Nottingham, which included the Rotary Young Citizen Awards 2019.

Elizabeth was delighted to have nominated Alana Habergham-Rice who was voted a winner of this year’s Rotary Young Citizen Award 2019.

At just 6 years old Alana set up a charity cake stall which has now evolved to Alana’s Caring Cakes, Alana is just 11 years old!  Alana receives nominations from the public on her Facebook page and then hand delivers cakes.  She has delivered to people in care homes, patients undergoing chemotherapy, staff at a hospice who had cared for somebody who had recently died, people caring for family members with a terminal illness and people who go the extra mile for special friends.  She then hand delivers the cakes to them simply to make them smile, what an inspiration! Alana received her award from BBC TV Presenter Ellie Crisell.  Her story also made BBC News!

Alana was also lucky enough to meet Ade Adepitan MBE who was also in attendance in support of the End Polio Now charity.
