Updated Divorce Law in England & Wales set to finally end the “blame game”

New legislation will soon enable separated couples to divorce amicably without the need to blame their spouse for the breakdown of their marriage. There is only one ground for a divorce in this country, which is the irretrievable breakdown of the marriage. As the law stands, in order to prove this, one of five facts must be established. The petitioner (person starting the divorce) needs to prove that there has been fault on the part of the spouse or wait for 2 years to start the divorce. Rotary Young Citizen Award 2019

On 11 and 12 May 2019, the Head of our Conveyancing Department and President of Rotary Club of Rotherham, Elizabeth Harris, proudly attended the Rotary National Conference in Nottingham, which included the Rotary Young Citizen Awards 2019. Elizabeth was delighted to have nominated Alana Habergham-Rice who was voted a winner of this year’s Rotary Young Citizen Award 2019. At just 6 years old Alana set up a charity cake stall which has now evolved to Alana’s Caring Cakes, Alana is just 11 years old!  Alana receives nominations from the public on her Facebook page and then hand delivers cakes.  She has delivered to people in care homes, patients undergoing…
