Ape-ing Around At Christmas

Best ditch the traditional Christmas party for the dizzy heights of Derbyshire. The theme for the weekend was who could design and wear the best worst Christmas jumper. It was as if the lights were being switched on in Bakewell as the team arrived sporting flashing, tinsel trimmed jumpers!

First stop was The Original Bakewell Pudding Shop for the Best Bake off – Donna was crowned Delia for the day making what the Bakewell baker described as the ‘perfect’ pudding!

The team then moved on to The Royal Oak at Hurdlow to conquer the charity pub quiz, in aid of Movember. Split into three house teams it was Mother Christmas who took the first prize! A great night of food, drink and general knowledge was enjoyed by all!

Saturday saw an early start for the Tree Top Trials as half the team brave the high wires at Go Ape. The challenge brought everyone together if only to create a little body heat in the minus 2 conditions – there were many nerves and apprehensions but once on the ropes everyone overcame their fears and came together in a team Leap of Faith!

From here the adventurous amongst Best joined the less adventurous or maybe more sensible at The Dome Spa, in Buxton. Everyone enjoyed an afternoon of pure escapism – being oiled, wrapped and massaged within an inch of their lives.

Back at Hurdlow grange everyone dressed up for an evening of fine food, wine and dancing as the finale to an excellent weekend!

That is how Best do Derbyshire!
