ASK THE EXPERT – “I want to purchase a property but want this to complete prior to the Stamp Duty relief ending.  Will this be possible?”

Brad Whiteley

Each week we are taking questions from our clients and contacts.  This week Mrs Blackstock from Sheffield asks

“I want to purchase a property but want this to complete prior to the Stamp Duty relief ending.  Will this be possible?”

Our Conveyancer Brad Whiteley answers.

“As many will know, the current Stamp Duty relief is available until 31 March 2021 and provides that no Stamp Duty Land Tax is payable up to a purchase price of £500,000 on your primary residence.

A standard conveyancing transfer takes around 8 weeks to complete. However, leasehold properties can take longer as there are additional legal matters to consider.

In order to achieve your timescales we would suggest that you instruct us as soon as possible to ensure that we can work towards completion before the Stamp Duty relief ends.

Our conveyancing team is fully staffed and are working hard to ensure that each and every client is moved as quickly as possible.”

** IMPORTANT – COVID-19 **

We can confirm that our Sheffield and Barnsley offices are now open.  We are ensuring the safety and wellbeing of all our staff and clients by offering an appointment only service.

Please do not attend without firstly making an appointment.

To help us manage this we will be keeping our office doors locked so we can ensure that there is only ever one client in our reception area at any given time.  We would also ask that you attend your appointment by yourself where possible to ensure we are limiting the number of people attending at the office.

If you are unsure of what to do, please telephone our offices on 0114 358 3134.

Please note our Free Wednesday Clinic is currently suspended until further notice.
